Student-Athlete Code of Conduct

1.) It is a privilege, not a right, to be a member of an intercollegiate athletic team at SRJC. Student-Athletes must remember that they are representatives of Santa Rosa Junior College and their teams at all times, and must comport themselves in a manner befitting that role.

2.) Each student-athlete is expected to show a high degree of sportsmanship and to be courteous and respectful of others.

3.) Any behavior exhibiting racial, ethnic, religious, or sexual harassment is strictly prohibited. Physical or verbal abuse of any member, guest, or host of the College (including officials, opposing teams, etc.), disruptive or disorderly conduct, or any offensive or anti-social behavior will not be tolerated.

4.) Student-Athletes are subject to CCCAA Bylaw 4 on decorum and conduct. SRJC student-athletes will sign an acknowledgement statement indicating a full understanding of the responsibilities and duties as they are applicable to all student-athletes statewide.

5.) Sexual Harassment will not be tolerated - Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to, the commission of unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual nature.

6.) SRJC Athletics recognizes and welcomes all individuals on the gender spectrum to participate in our athletic programs. Gender-based harassment is unwelcome and will not be tolerated. It includes slurs, taunts, stereotypes, or name-calling as well as gender-motivated physical threats, attacks, or other hateful conduct.

7.) In accordance with the Student-Athlete Conduct Standards, every student-athlete shall:

• Show exemplary conduct on and off campus.

• Adhere to College and community laws with respect to individuals and property.

• Avoid profanity and illegal tactics during competition.

• Attend all of his/her class sessions.

7.) It is important to note that, while traveling on trips, on campus, and on the weekends student-athletes represent their college. Therefore, good judgment in dress and behavior is expected.

8.) All student-athletes will treat all equipment as if it were his/her own personal property. Each student-athlete will be responsible for the security of his/her own personal gear, as well as financially responsible for all athletic equipment checked out.

9.) Any student who violates Student Conduct Standards is subject to suspension and dismissal from his/her sport.

The Head Coach and Athletics Director enforces athletic guidelines and may impose sanctions for infractions. The degree of penalty for any infraction of rules or regulations will be determined by the Athletics Director utilizing the Student Conduct Standards and Due Process/Discipline Procedure as a guide.
