Santa Rosa, Calif. — The inaugural season of the Santa Rosa Junior College Beach Volleyball program is officially underway, as the Bear Cubs begin training and preparation for the upcoming matches. Practices mark an exciting phase of development as the program builds momentum, chemistry, and competitive readiness.
Student-athletes have returned to the sand focused on skill development, conditioning, and partner play, emphasizing the unique demands of the beach game: ball control, communication, adaptability, and resilience. Training sessions are designed to prepare pairs for the physical and tactical challenges of collegiate beach volleyball while fostering growth and confidence in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
"This is an exciting time for our new program," said Head Coach Ally Sather. "Beach volleyball challenges our athletes in new ways and provides an incredible opportunity to compete, grow, and represent SRJC in a dynamic setting. The energy, commitment, and work ethic we're seeing early on are exactly what we want as we prepare for the season."
As training continues, the Bear Cubs will focus on refining systems of play, building strong partnerships, and establishing a competitive identity rooted in teamwork. The season will feature a combination of dual matches and tournaments against programs from across the region, starting on January 29th against Shasta College and Butte College in Folsom, CA.
SRJC Beach Volleyball looks forward to their home opener on February 27th, welcoming fans, families, and the community out to support Bear Cub Athletics at Spring Hills Church in Fulton, CA.
