Bear Cubs Earn Two Big 8 Wins Against Cosumnes River and Sacramento City

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — The Santa Rosa Junior College beach volleyball team continued its strong start to the season with a pair of victories over Cosumnes River College and Sacramento City College, showcasing depth across the lineup and several clutch performances in three-set matches.

The Bear Cubs opened the day with a 4–1 win over Cosumnes River College. Only dropping the topflight, SRJC responded with four wins to secure the dual.

At the No. 2 position, Amber Smart and Luka Amand delivered a dominant performance, defeating Williams/Belnap 21–14, 21–8. The No. 3 pair of Jaiden Brooner and Kiana Walker followed with a steady 21–17, 21–16 victory over Snow/Amen.

SRJC's No. 4 team of Stephanie Melendez and Nyejzniya Krohn battled through the most competitive match of the dual, winning in three sets over Stutes/Valencia, 21–10, 18–21, 15–5. The Bear Cubs clinched the team victory at the No. 5 position, where Issa McIninch andLily Seidler edged Fetzer/Rios in a tight contest, 21–14, 23–21.

In the opening flight, Hoffman/Patterson (CRC) defeated Katie Davis andLily Comma 21–15, 21–13.

SRJC carried that momentum into the second dual of the day, sweeping Sacramento City College 5–0.

Davis and Comma rebounded at the No. 1 spot with a gritty three-set win over Florez/Zhurko, 21–16, 12–21, 15–12. Smart and Amand continued their strong play at No. 2, holding off Talamoni/Azua 21–12, 22–20.

Brooner and Walker picked up their second win of the day with another three-set battle, defeating Daniels/Scroggins 21–17, 12–21, 15–8. Melendez and Krohn controlled the No. 4 match from start to finish, earning a 21–13, 21–13 victory over Sandhu/Batiratn. McIninch and Seidler closed out the sweep at No. 5 with a decisive 21–11, 21–15 win against Climo/Bogitini.

With the two wins, the Bear Cubs continue to build momentum, with a conference record of 2-2 and an overall record of 9-2.
