SRJC Beach Volleyball Pairs Qualify for Big 8 Conference Championships

Santa Rosa, CA — Santa Rosa Junior College Beach Volleyball is proud to announce that two Bear Cub pairs have officially qualified for the highly competitive Big 8 Conference Beach Volleyball Pairs Tournament, marking a significant achievement for the first-year program.

Leading the way in the No. 1 position, Lily Comma and Katie Davis have earned their spot among the conference’s elite after a standout season competing against top-tier opponents across the Big 8. Known for their chemistry, composure, and high-level execution, the duo has consistently delivered strong performances, demonstrating resilience in tight matches and the ability to compete at the highest level.

In the No. 2 position, Amber Smart and Luka Amand have also secured qualification following an impressive campaign. The pair has shown tremendous growth throughout the season, combining aggressive offensive play with disciplined defensive coverage. Their ability to adapt and respond under pressure has been key to their success and advancement to the championship tournament.

The Big 8 Conference, widely regarded as one of the most competitive conferences in California community college beach volleyball, features a deep field of talent and regularly sends multiple teams and pairs to postseason play. Qualifying for the pairs tournament is a testament to the hard work, consistency, and competitive drive of both SRJC duos.

“These athletes have put in the work all season long, and this recognition reflects their commitment to improving every day,” said Head Coach Ally Sather. “Competing in the Big 8 is never easy, and to have two pairs qualify speaks volumes about their effort, teamwork, and belief in each other.”

Comma/Davis and Smart/Amand will represent SRJC at the conference tournament hosted at Cosumnes River College on Wednesday, April 22nd. The top 14 pairs at the Big 8 tournament will have a chance to advance further into postseason competition at the Nor Cal Regional Pairs Tournament, May 1st and 2nd.

The Bear Cubs continue to build momentum in just the first year of the beach program, with this milestone highlighting the program’s upward trajectory and growing presence within the conference.
