The SRJC women displayed a very strong performance finishing 2nd overall out of 18 teams in the statewide Cuesta College Invitational on March 11-12.
Freshman, Ruby Gonzalez pulled the hat trick, sweeping her individual events including the 200 Back-2:14.77, 100 Back-1:00.42, and the 200 Free-1:56.46. Gonzalez also, along with her teammates, Sabrina Wells, Riley West, Ashley Simmons, and Jada Andrews, won four out of the five relays including the 800 Free (8:22.59), 200 Medley (1:55.90), 400 Medley (4:19.79), and the 400 Free (3:49.08). SRJC women also took 3rd overall in the 200 Free Relay (1:45.09). Other top 10 performances for the Cubs included:
- Jada Andrews: 1650 Free (5th), 200 Free (5th), 500 Free (2nd)
- Betsy Mensch: 400 IM (10th)
- Ashley Simmons: 200 Breast (3rd), 200 Free (9th), 100 Breast (5th)
- Sabrina Wells: 200 Breast (4th), 100 Breast (8th)
- Riley West: 200 Fly (7th), 500 Free (4th)
Gonzalez lead the team again at the Big 8 Invite on March 18 with a wins in the 100 Back, 200 Free, and 100 Free. Other top 8 finishes included: Andrews-500 Free (7th), Victoria Jensen-200 Breast (8th), Emily Nightingale-1M Diving (8th), Simmons-200 Breast (2nd), Wells-100 Breast (8th), and West-200 Fly (7th).
