On day three of the CCSF Golden Gate Classic, the Bear Cubs (9-2) completed the NorCal sweep of the Los Angeles County teams by defeating the Huskies (8-7) of East Los Angeles College. Jordan Washington won the jump ball to begin the contest. The Bear Cub guards passed the ball around the perimeter until Caitlin Baldwin spotted Kaia Eubanks cutting to an open spot on the left side of the hoop. She zipped the crosscourt pass to Eubanks, who banked in the 1-footer. The next time on offense, Washington swished a 12-footer after catching Elle Picard's baseline inbounds pass. Moriah Mosley scored the Huskies' first point on one of two free throws 27 seconds later. The Bear Cubs put in six more points on Washington's two consecutive putbacks and Eubanks' two free throws before Jocelyn Garcia's single free throw at the 6:43 mark. Washington and Eubanks banked in back-to-back 1-footers in the next minute, and Shasta Vlasak drew a shooting foul, making one free throw for a 15-2 lead with 5:11 on the clock. The Huskies scored eight unanswered points on four points each by Mosley and Garcia. The Bear Cub starters re-entered the game to finish the quarter with a 5-0 run on one free throw by Washington, Eubanks' fast break layup off of Elle Picard's steal and pass, and Abby Tacla's layup at the buzzer after Caitlin Baldwin's steal and assist for a 20-10 lead.
The Bear Cubs scored the first five points of the second quarter on Jordan Washington's 3-footer off a baseline inbounds pass from Elle Picard, her 4-footer at the end of a drive, and one free throw by Shasta Vlasak. Moriah Mosley drained two 3-pointers in a row to make the Bear Cubs' lead 25-16 at the 6:00 mark. The Bear Cubs responded with a 12-0 run comprised of Washington's 25-foot drive from the left side, Hailey Webb's drive from the left wing, Sydney Martin's 12-footer, Washington' left-handed 2-footer, her steal and three-quarter court layup, and Kaia Eubanks' drive from the top of the free throw circle to make their halftime margin 37-16.
The Huskies started the third quarter with the ball, but after a few passes Kaia Eubanks intercepted one and passed ahead to Caitlin Baldwin for an uncontested layup after just 20 seconds. Jocelyn Garcia made a field goal, and then so did Abby Tacla by banking in a 1-footer. Both teams missed their next shots, until Katou Gaye sank a close shot from inside the key. She was fouled on the play but missed her and-one free throw. Sydney Martin hit a 3-footer off of Shasta Vlasak's assist at the 6:30 mark and then made a layup after catching a tipped pass near the hoop. Hattie Piper drew a shooting foul and made one free throw, Hailey Webb was successful on a drive from the left wing to the right side of the basket, and Amanda Hart passed to a cutting Piper for the layup with 3:20 on the clock. During the remainder of the period, Olivia Parama sank two field goals and Jade Fernandez a 3-pointer for the Huskies. The Bear Cubs added seven points on Madyson Carson's 1-footer off of Webb's assist, her 3-pointer, and two free throws by Amanda Hart to increase their lead to 57-27.
The Bear Cubs made their first two shots of the fourth quarter: Jordan Washington's 10-footer and Kaia Eubanks' cut and layup, both off of assists from Elle Picard. Jocelyn Garcia swished a 3-pointer at the 6:51 mark. Washington's 3-point play on a low post move was followed by Olivia Parama's on a drive. Moriah Mosley drained a 3-pointer with 4:54 on the clock, and 38 seconds later Parama made a field goal. Over a minute after that, Shasta Vlasak made her shot from beyond the arc. The next time the Bear Cubs had the ball, they pushed it quickly down the court, and Madyson Carson passed to a cutting Hattie Piper for a layup with 3:00 left. Mosley and Garcia each sank a 3-pointer to complete their scoring. Sydney Martin was fouled with 55 seconds to go and made just the first free throw. At the sound of the final buzzer, the Bear Cubs were victorious 70-44.
Due to injuries, the Huskies started the game with only seven players, and one injured her knee in the second quarter and was unable to return to play. The Bear Cubs were able to get the ball to players close to the hoop, although a lot of the shots were missed, enough were made to keep increasing the lead. The Bear Cubs made 41% of their shots (29 out of 71), while the Huskies made only 27% (16 out of 59). Moriah Mosley finished with 17 points and Jocelyn Garcia 13.
Jordan Washington again led the Bear Cubs with her ninth double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Kaia Eubanks scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Sydney Martin added 7 points, Hattie Piper, Madyson Carson, and Shasta Vlasak 5 each, Hailey Webb and Abby Tacla 4 each, and Amanda Hart and Caitlin Baldwin 2 each. Madyson Carson also pulled down 7 rebounds. Elle Picard led in assists with 5. Kaia Eubanks made 4 steals, and Jordan Washington blocked 4 shots.
