The Bear Cubs hosted number thirteenth seed, Canada College on Saturday, November 19th in the First Round of Playoffs. The Bear Cubs took an early lead in the first half with two goals from Kaleigh Alves. The first goal came in the eighth minute as Megan Stavish would flick the ball on to a running Alves, who would then slot the ball past keeper, Julia Guidi to put the Bear Cubs up 1-0. Alves would score again on another slotted ball past Guidi with an assist from Maleni Avalos in the thirtieth minute, putting the Bear Cubs up 2-0 at the half.
In the second half, the Colts would come back to tie the game 2-2. Paola Honde Reyes would take a free kick and score in the fifty-fifth minute of play. Reyes would then grab an assist in the sixtieth minute as she connected another free kick to the head of Brady Candaele. With the game tied, overtime was calling. In the first half of overtime, Pricilla Villalobos would break out in a 1v1 against Guidi. She would score the winning goal in the thirteenth minute of the first overtime half. The last fifteen minutes of the game the Bear Cubs fought to keep the lead and would, but not without a couple of opportunities for the Colts. Ally Milone would have an outstanding performance in goal for the Bear Cubs shutting down many chances for the Colts.
The Bear Cubs will host San Francisco City College on Tuesday, November 22nd at home for the Second Round of Playoffs.
