SRJC Wrestling traveled to Sacramento City College on Saturday 9/21 where they placed 4th overall as a team, finishing in front of Sac City by 0.5 points and just behind Cuesta College by 9.5 points for a team trophy. The Bear Cubs again, had a full team effort placing 7 wrestlers, including 3 finalists and 2 champions. Individual placers include: Derek Ruffin (125) 5th place, Erickson Edpao (133) 5th place, Zack Morgan (174) 5th place, and Vicente Rodarte (149), who went 4-1 on the day, and finished 3rd place with a dominant 16-1 technical fall (4 total tech falls on the day) in his 3rd place match. SRJC had 3 finalists, Ali Hamzia (141), who went 3-1 on the day and lost a tough match in the finals to Fresno City College, Rayhan Jaleel (197) went 4-0 and Joe Ellis (HWT) went 4-0 with 3 falls on the day. Jaleel and Ellis were able to secure the win for 1st place with Jaleel winning big by a major decision 17-7. Ellis, being 70 pounds lighter than his opponent won by a score of 3-0. Next up for the Bear Cubs is the tough West Hills Tournament, Saturday 9/18, at West Hills College, Lemoore.
