            The Bear Cubs (1-2) traveled across the Golden Gate Bridge to take on the Bulldogs of the College of San Mateo (3-2). The Bear Cubs jumped out to a 6-0 lead on consecutive baskets by Trinity Hawkins, Kierra Johnson, and Kassi Agapoff. The San Mateo coach called a timeout with 7:49 on the clock. Less than two minutes later the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with a field goal and a 3-pointer to close to 5-6. The next time the Bulldogs tried to enter their offense, Johnson flashed into the passing lane, intercepted the pass, and drove all the way down to score the layup with a defender alongside her. The Bulldogs tallied their final two points of the quarter on a pair of free throws at the 4:33 mark. The Bear Cubs finished on a 14-0 run, including three 3-pointers by Lani Lincoln, a free throw by Amaya Macandog, and two field goals by Johnson, for a 22-7 lead.

            Trinity Hawkins' layup started the scoring in the second quarter. The Bulldogs scored the next three points on a field goal and one free throw. Lincoln swished her fourth 3-pointer with 6:38 on the clock. The Bulldogs sank a field goal 24 seconds later. Johnson made one of two free throws at the 4:25 mark and her team's final two points of the period on a putback with 3:10 remaining for a 30-12 lead. The Bulldogs took advantage of Bear Cubs' mistakes and scored three field goals to close the gap to 18-30 by halftime.

            The Bulldogs drew a shooting foul 15 seconds into the third quarter. Hawkins sank a short shot 11 seconds after that, and Lizbeth Zavala drained a 3-pointer on the Bear Cubs' next possession for a 35-20 lead. The Bulldogs sank one field goal, and then the Bear Cubs made three baskets in a row starting with Kierra Johnson grabbing a long offensive rebound and putting in the shot from the free throw line. Trinity Hawkins scored on a backdoor cut after catching the pass from Amaya Macandog, and Lani Lincoln dropped in a 5-foot floater to stretch the lead to 45-24 at the 4:08 mark. The Bear Cubs missed their final five shots, meanwhile the Bulldogs scored 10 unanswered points on three field goals and four free throws to cut their deficit to 34-45 by the end of the quarter.

            The Bulldogs sank a field goal 1:15 into the fourth quarter. Hawkins hit a short shot on the Bear Cubs' next possession. The Bulldogs drained a 3-pointer, and Lani Lincoln sank her own 3-pointer. Hawkins banked in a tough shot, then the Bulldogs converted a 3-point play at the 6:17 mark, making the Bear Cubs' lead 52-42. Hawkins swished a 3-pointer 19 seconds later, and the Bulldogs drained their own shot from beyond the arc 17 seconds after that. Kassi Agapoff drew a shooting foul with 4:15 on the clock, making one free throw, and then she swished a 3-pointer the next time down. Johnson was fouled on a drive with 2:28 left and made one free throw. Agapoff scored on a drive and was fouled with 21 seconds remaining. She missed the free throw but grabbed the rebound and was fouled on the follow-up shot. She made both free throws. The Bulldogs took one last shot and swished the 3-pointer just before the buzzer sounded on the Bear Cubs' 64-48 win.

            The Bear Cubs were able to make scoring runs when their defense came up with steals and forced turnovers. The Bear Cubs took 60 shots and made 25 (42%), while the Bulldogs only got off 44 shots making 17 (39%). The Bear Cubs only turned the ball over 14 times compared to the Bulldogs 24.

            Trinity Hawkins and Lani Lincoln both scored 17 points. Lincoln made 5 out of 9 shots from beyond the arc, passed for 3 assists, and made 7 steals. Kierra Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Kassi Agapoff also scored in double figures with 10 points. Lizbeth Zavala added 3 points and Amaya Macandog, who was seeing her first action after recovering from a concussion, 1 point. Hawkins and Agapoff also passed for 3 assists.
