SAN FRANCISCO – No. 6 state-ranked City College of San Francisco bounced back from a semifinals loss to defeat Skyline College 60-46 on Saturday in the third-place game of the Golden Gate Classic.
The Rams opened their home tourney on Thursday with an 83-71 win over East Los Angeles College but stumbled on Friday night falling 70-62 to Santa Rosa Junior College in the semifinals.
On Saturday, CCSF opened up with a big lead against Skyline before cruising to the victory. The Rams led 26-13 after the first quarter and were up 42-22 at halftime.
Amira Lama led the way for the Rams with 13 points while Talo Li-Uperesa posted a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. Teuila Tuiasosopo nearly had a double-double of her own with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Li-Uperesa had another big game in the loss to Santa Rosa, as she totaled 22 points and 7 rebounds. Lama added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists while Tuiasosopo chipped in with 9 points off the bench.
Li-Uperesa opened the tourney with her first double-double of the weekend, pouring in 30 points and 11 rebounds against East Los Angeles. Jaden Roan posted 8 points and 5 assists while Lama totaled 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
For the weekend, Li-Uperesa averaged 22 points and 10.7 rebounds per game..
CCSF improved to 9-4 overall. The Rams are back in action on Wednesday (Dec. 21) when they host San Jose City College in a 5 p.m. Coast Conference interdivision game.
