Volleyball Bounces Back After Dropping Two matches Last Week

SRJC bounced back Wednesday after dropping two matches on September 20th to Gavilan (4 sets) and Fresno (3 sets). The Bear Cubs took their final preseason trip to Redding where they defeated Shasta and Lassen Colleges. SRJC showed some road fatigue in the first match against Shasta, but came out with winning scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-23. Emily Bonfigli had 25 assists, Brianna Ortiz came away with 11 kills, and Becca Steiner had 9 digs and 2 aces.

 The Bear Cubs moved right on to face the Cougars who they defeated in 3 sets: 25-12, 25-22, and 25-22. Setter Bonfigli had 31 assists, 5 digs, and 2 aces; libero Becca Steiner had 17 digs and 3 aces; and middle blocker Alexis Seda had 7 kills, 2 blocks, and 3 aces. SRJC finished its preseason run with a 6-2 record, and is moving into conference play Wednesday, October 1st on the road against Sacramento City College at 6:30 pm. Go Bear Cubs!
