Women's Track & Field: King and Suega Lead the Bear Cub Women with State Qualifying Marks

The Bear Cub women were ready to compete, and it showed with both Eva King, Mickie Suega and the 4x100 team leading the way. King took first place in the High Jump with a state qualifying jump of 1.55 meters. Suega's 2nd place Discus Throw was also a state qualifier at 38.8 meters. Suega continued to perform well by taking 2nd in Shot Put (12.3m) and 3rd in the Hammer (43.30m). The 4x100-meter 1st place (50.35s) team performance by Destiny Williams, Sheena Blackwell, Alyssa Stewart and Jaime Flores was also impressive.

Other top finishers on the women's side included:  Ana Drake-Tripp with a 3rd place finish in the 3000-meter Steeple Chase (12:30.84) and Blackwell taking 3rd with a mark of 15.23 seconds in the 100-meter Hurdles. The Bear Cub women finished 4th place (67 points) overall among a field of 17 teams.

The Bear Cubs who qualify will be at Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational on Saturday, March 18th, starting at 11 a.m.
