Women's Tennis Overview

2014 Highlights

  • 4th in the Big 8 North Conference
  • Overall Record: 2-8
  • Conference Record: 2-6

2014 saw the Bear Cubs have a difficult time finding team wins throughout the season. Inexperience and depth were at the core of SRJC's results. The team did not let their results keep them from working hard and staying committed. Each team member improved dramatically and saw their competitive level increase during the second round of conference play. The Bear Cubs had two doubles teams qualify for the CCCAA State Tournament in April including: Laura Essayah (team captain) and Erin Leveroni, and Angel Tran and Kelli Kingsburough.

2014-2015 Season Preview

The Bear Cubs will be losing three of their sophomores: Essayah, Leveroni and Tran. But the team will be gaining some solid recruits including:  Betsey Samonte from Rodriquez HS in Fairfield, CA and Coral Imhoff from Colusa, CA. Several red-shirts will be re-joining the team as well to make the upcoming season a more promising.

Program History

SRJC has traditionally focused 100% of their recruiting efforts on local talent, a fleeting characteristic of the top 10 teams in California. The Bear Cubs have managed to compete well with most highly ranked teams saturated with international players. Santa Rosa is proud to be recognized as a tennis program that holds sportsmanship and integrity in the highest regard.

SRJC's Tennis program is recognized for its commitment to volunteering in the community and doing many free clinics and camps for local kids.
