The 2014 SRJC Women's Swim and Dive Team won their first Big 8 Conference Title conference since 2009 and have won a total of four conference and state titles since 2004.  Highlights from the meet included freshman swimmer Miranda Howell winning both the 50 and 100 backstrokes with both Big 8 conference meet and school record times.  She was also a member of SRJC's championship 800 free relay along with teammates Ashley Boyle, Erin Sullivan, and Megan Warren.  Freshman diver, Savy Moen was the Big 8 Champion on the 1-meter board, and freshman swimmer Christine Lewis broke one of the oldest school records on our board in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 30.15.  Head Coach Jill McCormick was the Big 8 Women's Coach of the Year.

After finishing just shy of the podium in 2013, SRJC's women were in a dog-fight for the CCCAA State Championship Title with conference rivals Diablo Valley and Sierra as well as with socal powerhouses Orange Coast and Golden West. They finished 3rd overall and were only 50 points away from what would have been the school's seventh team title.

Highlights included Miranda Howell becoming a two-time individual state champion in both the 50
Back (26.21) and the 100 Back (56.48). Both of those times broke the conference and school records she had set just two weeks prior at the Big 8 Championships. She also finished 3rd in the 50 Fly. The SRJC Women's Swim and Dive Team is the most decorated team in SRJC school history with six state titles to their name. The team has been in existence for over 40 years, and the last 11 seasons have been their most successful in school history. They compete for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and belong to the Big Eight Conference, the most competitive conference in California, and arguably one of the fastest conferences in the nation. In the final CCCAA state rankings, the Bear Cubs have finished in the top three 7 out of the last 14 seasons; in the top five, 13 out of the last 14 seasons, and they have finished in the top 10, 10 every year McCormick has coached. During that time they have also captured four conference titles and have finished in the top three 10 times.

The SRJC women have become a perennial power house in CCCAA Swimming & Diving and along with the four state titles they have won since 2000, they have produced 21 national champions, 23 state champions, three state records, 33 new school records, and numerous conference champions and meet records.  In 2009 the SRJC women's team set new state records in both the 200 and the 400 Medley Relays.  In 2012, Alexandria Holland was named the CCCAA Female Swimmer of the Year winning all three of her events; and in 2013, after winning two more events during her sophomore season, she set a new state record in the 100 IM as well.  SRJC's women's team was named the Big 8 Conference Swim & Dive Scholar Team of the Year in 2010.

Recently, between our men's and women's teams, we have had over 50 swimmers and divers transfer on scholarship to the four-year level, 21 of which have been to Division I schools. During the past 10 seasons, our teams have produced over 120 All American and All Conference athletes and over 100 All Academic Team members as well.

It is our mission to produce student-athletes willing to develop a high degree of self-worth and autonomy, a commitment to pursue academic and athletic excellence, a servitude to their community, and a willingness to overcome adversity.
