The no. 6 Bear Cubs defeated the higher seeded No. 3 Lake Tahoe College Tuesday night in a all out battle under the lights.

The Coyotes came out fast and quick against the Cubs leaving the first half scoreless as both teams fought back and forth with few opportunities to score. Kaleigh Alves would score in the second half with, what would eventually be, the game winning goal. The Bear Cubs got a corner, and Natasha Wallace went up for the header. The ball would bounce between Wallace and a Coyote defender, landing on the foot of Alves.

Alves would take a touch to her right and send the winning goal into the back of the net. The last fifteen minutes the Coyotes flew at the Bear Cubs but nothing would get by the back line of Janelle Schwartz, Lexi Martinez, Megan Stavish, and Hanah Weitzel. Goalkeeper Bailey Cahill would get the shutout.

SRJC will play a familiar opponent in the third round of playoffs this Saturday, traveling to face no. 2 Folsom Lake College for a chance to advance to the State Finals. Game time is at 2pm.
