SRJC Women's Softball spent last weekend in Mendocino County volunteering at the Fort Bragg Food Bank. The team arrived at the food bank on Friday morning at 9:00am to begin their day.
The Bear Cubs were first given a tour of the facility before getting to work. The team was divided into groups and put to work on many different tasks including: bagging peanuts, working in the kitchen, sorting bread, and working at the counter interacting with the residents arriving to receive their food.
The team was ecstatic about the opportunity to give back to the community of Fort Bragg. It was a great hands-on experience helping others. This experience helped the members of the team realize how important it is to volunteer time and give back to others in need.
This was the second year in a row that SRJC Softball volunteered at the Fort Bragg Food Bank. The team also volunteers at the Redwood Empire Food Bank a couple of times a year as well. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and they can't wait to go back next year.
