On Friday, September 26th, the Bear Cub cross country team traveled to San Mateo for the Crystal Springs meet, on a course notorious for its soul-crushing difficulty. A winding path consisting of grinding hills and a wind that always seems to be working against you, the course is considered a favorite by only the most masochistic of athletes. However, the Bear Cubs stepped up to the start line, incredibly eager and confident.

The SRJC men adequately intimidated the other teams with the loudest and catchiest cheer. This strategy was incredibly successful, and our men performed exceptionally. This treacherous course included a very challenging uphill finish - the kind of finish that causes normal humans spasms of cold, petrifying fear. Our Bear Cubs charged up this hill with the speed and determination (and facial expressions) of top-notch 800 meter runners. Each man put every last ounce of energy into the end of his race, and it showed. Christian Nazarek placed 5th overall, and Andrew Langwell ran well on his birthday.

An incredibly strong performance from all of the athletes, those difficult practices are definitely paying off! With a complete men and women's team competing next meet, Santa Rosa is bound to be a big player in the league.
