Joey Doyle enters his first season at the helm of SRJC's Men's Water Polo program.

SRJC Athletics welcomes former Bear Cub water polo and swimming alum, Joey Doyle, as interim head women's water polo coach. He enters the college coaching ranks after a distinguished young career at both the club and high school level.

Doyle has been the Club Director/Head Coach for the USA Water Polo club, Napa Premier Aquatics (NPA), since 2015. In 2016 he lead the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program (ODP) Central California Zone Cadet Team to their first National Championship, defeating the Southern Pacific Zone Cadet Team in the national championship game.

This past summer, he also guided NPA's 14 & Under girls team to a 5th place finish in the Junior Olympics Gold Division. He also played and coached for the Canberra Water Polo Academy/ACT Dolphins in Canberra, ACT Australia (2012-2013) under former Australian Water Polo High Performance Director, Matt Turnbull.

At the high school level, Doyle has served as the head girls and boys varsity coach for Justin Siena since 2015. During his time there, he brought both teams to program best finishes including league semifinals and the North Coast Section (NCS) Quarterfinals. He also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Sir Francis Drake High School in 2014 helping guide the Pirates to a MCAL league title and a top-four DI NCS finish.

As a collegiate player, Doyle was a dual-sport athlete. He began his collegiate career at SRJC in the fall of 2007. While playing for the Bear Cubs, Doyle was a 1st Team All American, NorCal, and Big 8 Conference player. He was named to the Dean's Honors list in 2008 and also swam for the cubs in both 2008 and 2009.

Doyle successfully transferred and continued his career at to the University of the Pacific (UOP), playing under former SRJC Men's Water Polo Coach and NCAA Coach of the Year, James Graham. While at UOP, he was a two-time All MPSF Academic Team member and helped the Tigers to a No. 4 NCAA DI ranking. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree as a Communications major with a Business Management minor in 2012.

Doyle was also a multi-sport athlete at Sir Francis Drake High School. During his prep career, he was named 1st Team All MCAL and 2nd Team NCS for water polo; was a two-time runner up for MCAL MVP in volleyball, and also played varsity basketball for three years.
