Men's Track Competed in Two Meets Last Weekend

The Bear Cubs split up into two groups this weekend with most of the team traveling to San Mateo on Friday for the Bob Rush Invitational while the rest competed against D-1 athletes at Sacramento State for the Hornet Invitational on Saturday. At San Mateo the Men finished in 2nd place behind American River scoring 92 points. Taking the spot in their individual events were Nick Diaz in the Javelin with a throw of 50.53m, Dontae Garcia in the 400m with a time of 50.26, and the men's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:29.52. At Sacramento State the Bear Cubs competed well against four year schools. Sophomore Jon Ahnberg, finished first in his heat in the 800m breaking the 2 minute mark with a time of 1:59.23. Freshmen Christian Corbin, Brandon Randel, and Kyle Vannetti ran well in the 100m and the 200m. Freshman DJ Dartez hit a third personal record in a row in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 57.14 and Mark Wilson just missed hitting another PR with a time of 58.15. Hitting a State Automatic Qualifier in the Steeplechase freshman Kevin Poteracke finished 2nd with a time of 9:37.17 (7th all time at SRJC). Poteracke is now ranked 5th in the State and 3rd in the North.

The Bear Cubs will travel to American River to compete in the AR Invite next weekend.
