The SRJC men's team battled hard in one of the deepest and fastest fields in CA community college swimming history to claim a top 5 team finish at the 2019 State Meet. The team was led by sophomore sprinter Mark Sidorenko who finished 4th in both the 100 Fly and 100 Free, and 12th in the 50 Free; and freshmen Cameron Flood who had two top 8 finishes as well finishing 8th in the 500 Free, and 3rd in the mile.
Other standout performances came from Jack McCormick who swam a 20.96 in the lead-off of SRJC's 200 Free relay, and finaled in all three of his events (50 Free, 100 Fly, and 100 Free); from Julian Schiano Dicola who also finaled in his events (500 Free, 400 IM, and 100 Free), and John Madden who rose to the occasion competing in some of the most grueling events offered including the 200 IM (11th), 400 IM (7th), 200 Fly (15th) and anchoring the 800 Free relay with a personal best 200 Free time of 1:46.06. The Bear Cubs also had three top 8 relay finishes including the 200 Free (5th), 800 Free (5th), and they closed the meet with one of the fastest times in school history in the 400 Free relay with a time of 3:07.26 (McCormick 47.05, Leung 47.93, Schiano Dicola 46.94, Sidorenko 45.34).
