SRJC Men's Swimming made a statement at the Cuesta College Invitational meet last weekend in San Luis Obispo.  The Cubs finished 2nd overall to the reigning state champions Sierra College claiming seven individual event titles as well as winning three out of the five relays.

Bradley Erickson had an exceptional meet, pulling the "hat trick" winning all three of his events with lifetime best times in the 200 Breast, 200 IM, and 100 Breast.  Not only did he break his 2016 school record in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:02.64, but both of his Breast times are currently ranked no. 1 in the CCCAA, and his 200 IM time is currently ranked no. 3 overall.

Sophomore Drew Sipple has established himself as the state's top distance freestyler with stellar performances in both the 500 Free and the Mile events.  He was a double winner in those events posting dominating times of 4:35.77 and 15:59.54 respectively.  He also finished 2nd in the 200 Free with a 1:44.23.

Team captain, R.J. Williams won a pair of the extremely competitive sprint events getting his hand on the wall first in both the 100 Fly and the 50 Free.  His times in those events, 50.91 and 21.13, are the state's best so far this season. He also finished 3rd overall in the 100 Free as well with a 47.39.

Erickson, Sipple, and Williams were all members of SRJC's winning 800 Free, 200 Medley, and 400 Medley relays as well.

Other break out swims came from freshman distance swimmer Grant Howell, who finished 2nd to his teammate and 3rd overall in the 1650 Free.  Other top 10 event finishers included:  Nate Parker in the 100 Breast and 50 Free; Sha'anan Levy in the 200 Breast; and Daniel Castagnola in the 100 Fly.

The Bear Cubs look to build of their strong momentum at Cuesta as they head into the Big 8 Conference Invite this weekend at Delta College in Stockton. Competition begins at 11am.
