Coaching Honors
Marty Kinahan enters his 26th season at the helm of SRJC’s Men’s Soccer program. Since arriving at Santa Rosa, Kinahan has led the Bear Cubs to the schools only National Title (2001), 2 California State Titles (2001 & 2002) and 16 Conference Titles. In that time he has produced 26 United Coaches All American players, 2 United Coaches Academic All-Americans, 114 All Conference players, 12 Big 8 Players of the Year, 5 Conference Keeper of the year and the 2001 and 2002 California State Final Four MVP.
The 2023 Bear Cubs compiled an overall record of 17-4-2, bringing his SRJC overall coaching record to 381-80-77, Conference record 193-28-40 Under Kinahan’s leadership SRJC Men’s soccer has made nine appearances to the CCCAA State Championship Tournament, representing the north four times in the California State Title game. SRJC has finished the season ranked in the top 20 Nationally 16 Seasons..
Marty Kinahan is a full-time faculty member in the Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance Department and has taught and coached at SRJC since the Spring of 1998. Marty Kinahan started the very successful Boxing program in 2000 which he teaches each semester and Recently added the most successful class at SRJC the new Hiking class which typically has over 80 students. Prior to taking over the program in 1998, Coach Kinahan served as CSU Chico and Butte College assistant coach for 2 years.
Kinahan lettered in soccer at Sacred Heart in San Francisco and went on to play at San Francisco City College. He was team captain, First Team All-Conference and Defensive Player of the Year. After college Kinahan went on to participate in the USISL and Captained the Shasta Scorchers. In addition to soccer, Marty participated in Gaelic Football in San Francisco. He traveled around the United States and Ireland with his Harp teammates. In 1997 he played and captained the Sons of Boru and captured the National title at Balboa Stadium. This was the first all American-born team to win a National championship in GAA history and still stands today.
Coach Kinahan graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation Administration and a Masters Degree in Physical Education.
Marty Kinahan was born and raised in San Francisco’s sunset district. He has been married to Kim for 32 years and is the proud father to Keegan and Molly his biggest fans.
