North State Bowl: SRJC vs. MJC, Saturday, November 21, 5pm, Bailey Field
This week the bear cub football team will host Modesto College in a North State Bowl rematch from 2013. Modesto comes into the game as one of the top teams in the state in total offense, and was the winner of the same game in 2013. Quarterback Trey Cooper leads the charge for Modesto with 890 yards rushing and 2500 yards passing. He, and a host of talented players on offense, will be a big test for the SRJC defense.
This will be the third straight bowl game for head coach Lenny Wagner who took over in 2013. On offense this year the Bear Cubs are led by running back Ja'Narrick James, and receiver Kerr Johnson, both from Analy high school and First Team All-Bay 6 Conference players. On defense the Bear Cubs are led by defensive linemen AJ Davison from Rancho Cotate, and Giocomo Poggi from San Marin (both All-Bay 6 as well). The secondary is controlled by freshmen Keilan Benjamin, & Keith Benjamin (All-Bay 6), and FS Justin Taueafa.
