Pirate volleyball (6-4, 1-0 Big 8) began Big 8 Conference play last Friday with a 3-1 win over the visiting Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs (2-3, 0-1 Big 8).
Pirates were led by Turlock High School pair Elizabeth Johnson and Ava Chiesa. Chiesa led all attackers with 18 kills and earned her 5th double-double of the season by adding 13 digs. Johnson turned in an impressive .500 hitting percentage while earning a career high 11 kills.
Setter Lanai Torres earned her 6th double-double of the season against the Bear Cubs, 42 assists – 12 digs. Former State Player of the Week, Brionna Sims, contributes her 4th career double-double with 15 kills – 13 digs. Libero Camryn Wong earned her 150th dig on the season. Wong currently leads all Pirates and is fourth in the Big 8 in total digs (152) and digs/set (4.22).
